
The Accident & Emergency Unit is fully equipped with specially trained personnel to facilitate a 24 hour medical service. Resident Medical Officers with trained support teams will always be at hand to attend to your needs, at all times. Our Resident Specialist Consultants will be available on-call if further medical advice is required.
Triage Policy
The A&E department observes the Triage Policy, the first stage of which activates on your arrival at the emergency room which includes assessment by the hospital triage nurse. This nurse will evaluate the patient’s condition, as well as any changes, and will determine their priority for admission to the Emergency Room and also for treatment. Patients will be attended based on the severity and urgency of treatment.

- Lumps and Swelling
- Burns < 15% Body Surface Area
- Headache

Yellow Zone Indications
- Poorly Controlled Hypertension
- Poorly Controlled Diabetes Mellitus
- Baby > 3 Months with Fever > 38 ℃
- Allergic Reaction
- Open Fractures of Upper Limbs
- Fractures of Long Bones
- Dislocation of Major Joints
- Stable Spine Fractures
- Eye Injuries
- Burns 15% – 25% Body Surface Area
- Diarrhea with Vomiting
- Per Vaginal Bleed
- Per Rectal Bleed
- Moderate Asthma

Red Zone Indications
- Semiconscious / Unconscious Patient
- Cardiac / Respiratory Arrest
- Severely Respiratory Distress
- Fitting Patient (Ongoing / Prolonged)
- Severe asthma
- Arrhythmia with Tachycardia / Bradycardia
- Polytrauma / Major Trauma to Spine, Chest and Severe Injuries to Limbs
- Head Injury
- Alleged Poisoning or Drug Overdose
- Hypertension Emergencies : Systolic > 220mmhg or Diastolic 120mmhg
- Hyperglycemia or Hypoglycemia with Altered Conscious Level
- Chest Pain
- Acute Myocardial Infarction / Unstable Angina
- Acute Abdomen
- Burns > 25% Body Surface Area
- Shock States with Low Blood Pressure, Severely Shocked Child / Infant
- Severe Headache
- Baby < 3 Months with Fever > 38 ℃
- Excessively High Temperature > 39 ℃
- Gun Shot / Stab Wounds
